UNIQ: The Visionary Entrepreneur Empowering Creative Spaces Through Music and Multimedia

Hailing from Newark New Jersey, Uniq Being is a force in the creative industry. With parents who were Salvadoran immigrants, Uniq's love for music was shaped by her family's roots—her father was a musician, and her mother introduced her to the music that would influence her later work. Her journey as a multidisciplinary artist started early, but it was her friend July who truly pushed her to pursue music seriously. After July's tragic passing, Uniq released her first single in 2017, which featured July on vocals. This was more than just a release; it was a personal tribute to the friend who had motivated her to chase her passion. Today, Uniq’s creative output spans music, multimedia, photography, and education. She’s crafted curriculums focused on music production, artist development, and songwriting, providing female artists with the tools to not only survive but thrive in a male-dominated industry. Through her workshops and projects, Uniq aims to create radically inclusive spaces that empower people to express themselves fully.

A Thriving Career in Music Production and Songwriting:

Uniq’s career as a music producer and songwriter is a story of collaboration, spanning projects with independent artists and community-driven movements. She has spent over seven years as a teaching artist, traveling across the U.S. and beyond, helping others develop their voices. Her work with organizations such as the Hip Hop Reeducation Program, Bronx Berlin Connection, and Educated Little Monsters has not only allowed her to mentor emerging talent but also cemented her role as a leader in creating opportunities for underrepresented voices in the arts.

One of her standout initiatives is "Grlz in the Stu," a project inspired by her friend and mentor July. As she took on the legacy of being a mentor to other female artists, Uniq traveled city to city, listening to the stories of women navigating a male-dominated music industry. The program reflects Uniq's mission to build spaces where women can share their experiences, grow creatively, and support one another.

Balancing Masculine Energy and the Softness of Love:

Uniq’s music speaks to the complexity of identity, love, and self-expression. In a world where toxic masculinity often dominates the conversation, Uniq challenges these norms by presenting her own masculine energy while celebrating the softness of loving women. She’s committed to normalizing women expressing love for other women through her music, providing a refreshing perspective in an industry where such themes are still underrepresented. Her upcoming single, "Be My Baby," is a fun, uptempo track about the highs and lows of love—wanting to be with someone even when they drive you crazy. It’s the kind of feel-good song that blends Uniq’s signature style with relatable themes of passion and frustration, all wrapped in an infectious beat.

Building a Legacy of "Big Sister Energy":

When asked in a recent interview with The Mixtape Queens what she hopes her legacy will be, Uniq’s response was heartfelt and clear: “I want to be remembered for my 'big sister energy'—as someone who always supported others, showed up for them, and pushed them to fulfill their purpose.” This sentiment is a reflection of everything she embodies as an artist, mentor, and leader in the creative community. Uniq’s journey has always been about more than just creating music; it’s about creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to chase their dreams. Through her multifaceted work in music, mentorship, and community building, she has dedicated herself to helping others find their voice and thrive in their own artistic journeys. Whether she’s hosting workshops, mentoring up-and-coming female artists, or collaborating on creative projects, Uniq’s guiding principle has always been to lift others up.

Her 'big sister energy' extends far beyond the studio or stage—it's in every conversation she has, every event she organizes, and every piece of advice she offers. She believes in showing up for others, being that steady source of encouragement, and pushing people to embrace their full potential. For Uniq, it’s not just about her personal success; it’s about leaving behind a legacy of love, support, and lasting impact that will inspire the next generation of creators to step into their own greatness. Uniq is building a legacy of empowerment, inclusivity, and unapologetic expression.
